The school referred to by the Deputy was approved to enter the Department’s pipeline of school buildings to provide 4 Mainstream classrooms, 2 classroom SEN base and ancillary.
I can confirm that this project recently received the Departments approval to go to stage 2a and the Department now awaits submission of a stage 2a report.
The preferred option selected for progression has taken on board the departments comments and combines the new classroom accommodation and the SEN base into a single building which is connected to the existing school by two links, one Internal and one external. The enclosed link connects the building at the western gable and provides access from the new main entrance to the existing school. A covered link connects the building at the existing staff room which is repurposed as a pupil cloaks area. This approach creates easy legible circulation for all pupils.
It is now within the remit of the school authority to progress this project accordingly.
