I propose to take Questions Nos. 201 and 204 together.

A detailed business case is currently awaited from the military authorities in relation to a longer term Naval Service presence on the East Coast in accordance with the Programme for Government. In the interim, my officials have been engaged in discussions with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council to agree on terms for the use of Carlisle Pier in Dún Laoghaire harbour over the short term. The securing of berthage facilities in Dún Laoghaire will support the operational activity of the recently commissioned Inshore Patrol Vessels (IPV’s), particularly in patrolling the East Coast.

An on site meeting between my officials and representatives from Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council took place last month and a number of actions were agreed. These are currently being progressed by Department officials.
