217. To ask the Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht for an update on the external review of the governance and culture at the Arts Council that has been commissioned; if he will provide a timeframe for its completion; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22103/25]

On 25th February, I presented the terms of reference for the external review of the governance and organisational culture in the Arts Council to Government and they were agreed. The review is underway since then and is being conducted by an Expert Advisory Committee chaired by Professor Niamh Brennan. Dr. Margaret Cullen and John McCarthy are the other members of this Committee. The Department is providing the secretariat and necessary administrative support for the Committee. The Arts Council is also co-operating fully with the review.

The work of the Committee is progressing well in line with the terms of reference and it should be noted that the Committee is fully independent in its approach to its work. I have asked the Committee to ensure that the review process is robust, fair and transparent, and will lead to practical, actionable recommendations to improve the Arts Council’s governance arrangements. I will bring the report to Government when it is completed.
