94. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport further to Parliamentary Question No 29 of 26 March 2025, the reason no inspections took place in that period under the Air Navigation (Carriage of Munitions of War, Weapons and Dangerous Goods) (Amendment) Orders 1973 and 1989 in that period; if any such inspections have been undertaken since 26 March 2025 to-date in 2025; his plans to begin random inspection of civil aircraft to establish if they are carrying munitions of war; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Further to my response to question No. 29 of 26 March 2025, in which I set out the conditions which must be met prior to the inspection of an aircraft under the 1973 and 1989 Orders, no such inspections have been conducted as the conditions have not been met.

I can further inform that since 26 March 2025 no inspections under Article 8 of those orders have been conducted.

The introduction of a regime of routine and random inspections is not permissible under the current legislation.
