81. To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to engage with Irish Rail to ascertain their plans to introduce additional services in 2025; if consideration has been given to increasing the number of services serving stations in Tipperary, which would improve the availability of rail travel within the county; if Irish Rail would consider increased services on the line that serves Thurles and Clonmel, to increase the availability of public transport between the towns; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport; however, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport.

Under the Programme for Government, the Department will work collaboratively with operators to act on the recommendations from the All-Island Strategic Rail Review to improve connectivity across the island of Ireland. In line with this, additional track capacity, electrification, increased line speeds and new routes to enhance and develop rail services will be developed.

The issues raised by the Deputy are a matter for Irish Rail. Therefore, I have referred the Deputy's question to Irish Rail for direct response.

Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within ten working days.
