567. To ask the Minister for Health for an update on the work of the National Clinical Trials Oversight Group; when her department will publish the planned interim report on challenges of conducting trials in Ireland; if she will publish interim year-on-year targets for the level of clinical trials activity in Ireland for 2025, 2026 and 2027; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The National Clinical Trials Oversight Group (NCTOG) has now been in operation for 10 months. In October 2024, the NCTOG produced its interim recommendations in relation to advancing clinical trials in Ireland (). These were brought before cabinet in a Memorandum for Information which was noted by Government on 7th November 2024. The NCTOG is well-placed to make recommendations that will have a transformative impact on the clinical trials landscape in Ireland, helping improve access to life-saving cutting-edge medicines and ultimately providing for better patient outcomes.

The NCTOG is currently in the process of drafting its final recommendations and report and I look forward to updating Government in due course, in addition to working towards implementation of those recommendations for the benefit of Irish society.
