I propose to take Questions Nos. 498 and 499 together.

Under Budget 2025, Minister Butler secured permanent, recurring funding of €3 million for CAMHS waiting list activities, to help improve access to care for children and adolescents on CAMHS waiting lists.

The Waiting List Action Plan (WLAP) 2025 provides targeted funding to support reducing waiting lists for CAMHS and regional action plans have been developed. The focus of these plans is to reduce waiting lists, in particular for those waiting the longest to access care, while at the same time recognising clinical autonomy to manage clinical risk.

Waiting list activities in 2024 resulted in an additional 1,475 children and adolescents receiving care and it is anticipated that a similar number will benefit from the Waiting List Action Plan in 2025. In the context of the rising number of referrals of children to CAMHS, this initiative has helped more children to receive care and faster than would otherwise have been possible.
