In line with the Health Act 2004 (As amended), the CEO of the HSE is accountable to the Oireachtas and is required to attend before any of its relevant Committees upon request to give an account of the general administration of the Executive.

The CEO and the Chair of the HSE are also directly accountable to myself as Minister for Health, and, in relation to specialist community-based disability services, the Minister for Children, Disability, and Equality.

The Health (Amendment) Bill, which is currently in development, will introduce further provisions to enhance the accountability of the HSE.
