My Department, through the HSE, provides funding support to those statutory and voluntary organisations who provide specialist community-based disability services in residential, respite and day settings, as well as additional services such as personal assistance, home support, multi-disciplinary supports and other community supports.

While my Department sets the strategy, policy direction and the overall allocation for the disability sector, funding allocations to individual service providers is an operational matter for the HSE as the funding authority. In 2024, the department provided an overall allocation of €3 billion to the HSE. Of this, the HSE provided €825,422 in funding to Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, Cork.

I would like to acknowledge the important work that the volunteers and staff in Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, Cork do in enabling people who are vision impaired achieve greater independence and mobility.

As this question refers to the service matters, I have asked the Health Service Executive (HSE) to respond to the Deputy directly, as soon as possible.
