109. To ask the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth to provide the number of vacant or derelict properties owed by her Department; whether she has any plans to refurbish these properties as designated family resource centres; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I can advise the Deputy that my Department does not own any vacant or derelict properties.

In relation to capital funding generally, I can also advise that neither my Department nor Tusla have capital funding to develop the capital infrastructure of Family Resource Centres, including refurbishing vacant or derelict buildings. Tusla does not have a dedicated budget for capital or building works for third party organisations.

The Family Resource Centre Programme is a community development programme that is financially supported by many State agencies in a partnership approach. Centres may draw on various sources of funding provided by other Government Departments, agencies and private sources. I would suggest that the local County or City Council be considered as a starting point in the context of any capital funding requests.
