To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if he will publish the findings of the research conducted by the University of Galway on the native Irish honey bee apis mellifera mellifera, which concluded in December 2024; if he will outline the timeline for completing the evaluation of the report; the steps he intends to take based on its conclusions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department procured independent scientific research on the native Irish honey bee (Apis mellifera mellifera). In October 2023, a 12 month contract was signed with the National University of Ireland, Galway to conduct this research.

The research work concluded in December 2024 and the research report is currently being evaluated. This evaluation process is expected to conclude shortly and when complete, the research and the outcome of this evaluation will be published. The steps to be taken thereafter will be informed by the evaluation report.
