1486. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection if there has been any change in policy in relation to sending people to Seetec faster after they apply for jobseeker’s payments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21256/25]

For the purposes of the Intreo Partners employment service all long-term unemployed jobseekers on the Live Register are categorised into groups based on their duration of unemployment (e.g. 1-2 years, 2-3 years, etc.). All jobseekers who have been unemployed for more than a year are eligible for selection for the Intreo Partners service and clients are chosen by means of an automated selection process based on a number of criteria such as duration on the live register and Employment Service history.

The National Employment Service (NES) provides employment services for Jobseekers, primarily for those who have been on the Live Register for between 12 and 24 months. The Local Area Employment Services (LAES) provides Employment Services for jobseekers who have been on the Live Register for between 24 and 36 months and are further from the labour market.

There has been no change in policy regarding the manner in which jobseekers are referred to the relevant service.

I hope this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
