In 2024, significant changes were made in terms of providing suitable but sustainable support to Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (BOTPs). BOTPs in Designated state-provided serviced accommodation (DACs) where meals and utilities are provided are not entitled to social assistance payments. BOTPs resident in DACs are entitled to the Beneficiary of Temporary Protection weekly payment of €38.80 per adult and €29.80 per child, subject to an income test. My Department administers this payment on behalf of the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth.

There are currently c. 3,400 people in receipt of the payment.

Below is a table outlining the expenditure on this scheme since its introduction in March 2024 to date:

Year Expenditure (€000)
2024 9,098
2025 7,807
Total 16,905
I trust this clarifies matters for the Deputy.

I trust this clarifies matters for the Deputy.
