To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government the position regarding the RMS Leinster Memorial in Dún Laoghaire; his views on the merits of maintaining and upgrading this memorial to reflect the significance of this event; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Funding for the provision or maintenance of memorials, erection of monuments, plaques, busts or statues is not provided for under my Department's heritage allocation.
Local communities or organisations seeking support for the erection or maintenance of monuments and other memorials are advised to contact their relevant local authority to see if such funding is available.
