My Department funds three grant schemes that provide financial assistance to householders to reduce the environmental impact from defective Domestic Waste Water Treatment Systems (mostly septic tanks) and to protect human health.

Householders may be eligible for a grant where their septic tank has been found to be defective following an inspection by the local authority or if located in a designated area of greatest environmental priority. Each local authority is responsible for the administration of the grants in their functional areas and has a Rural Water Liaison Officer who is responsible for the day to day management of applications and queries.

The officer is best placed to provide information and assistance to the person named in the details supplied. The Officer can be contacted at the Rural Water Section of the local authority, Meath County Council in this case.
