Over a quarter of a billion euro was allocated to 3,048 community sports clubs and facilities in 2024 from the 2023 round of the Community Sport Facilities Fund (CSFF) representing the largest-ever investment in sports facilities in communities across Ireland.
Allocation amounts for valid applications were calculated using the level of socio-economic disadvantage in the area of the project (based on the Pobal Index of deprivation catchment score) as the primary calculation factor. The club referred to by the Deputy sought €70,000 towards an athletic sprint track from the 2023 round of CSFF and received an allocation of €40,696 or 58% of funding sought.
In line with previous rounds a review of the 2023 round of funding will be undertaken and that review will inform the timing of the next round of the CSFF. However, I would anticipate that the next round should be announced in 2026.
