921. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if, following the recent Topical Issue debate raised by each Deputy representing Dublin Bay north, her Department will act on the recommendation to locate the proposed special school within the already-constructed Phase 2 building of a school (details supplied); if not, whether a cost comparison has been carried out between adapting temporary prefabs for the special school and utilising the existing permanent school building; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Following discussions between the Department and patron and principal of Belmayne Educate Together Secondary School (ETSS), it has been agreed that Belmayne Community Special School will operate within the special education needs unit in the ETSS supplemented by some modular accommodation to be retained on the site. This combined accommodation will assist in future proofing special school accommodation to meet demand in the area. This approach also provides for the removal of surplus modular units which will facilitate completion of the previously agreed Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), long jump, the third ballcourt and an area for use as a school garden. This will bring the external play space provision for the ETSS in line with previously agreed areas and finishes.
