I propose to take Questions Nos. 163, 164 and 165 together.
The National Cyber Security Centre and the Department of Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform have published guidance on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the public service, which has been made available to all staff in the Department of the Taoiseach.
Staff of the Department are engaging in conferences/webinars/masterclasses, etc. to explore and better understand the potential, and impact of, AI.
The Department is not currently directly involved in any projects with CeADAR but works closely with colleagues in other government departments on the potential of emerging technologies.
With regard to the increased data processing capacity that AI adoption might deliver, it should be noted that the Department does not collect or process large data sets, nor does the Department provide or operate any significant schemes and services for the public.
The Government is committed to harnessing the digital and AI revolution to deliver effective and modern public services and to grow the economy. A review of our National Digital Strategy is ongoing in this regard.
