I wish to advise the Deputy that the percentage of staff in my Department who have declared a disability in the last ten years is set out in the table below.

The Department is fully aware of its obligations as set out in the Disability Act of 2005 and is fully compliant in submitting its returns to the National Disability Authority (NDA) on an annual basis. An anonymous survey is carried out each year for staff to declare if they have a disability and the findings are then provided to the National Disability Authority (NDA).

My Department satisfied the 3% target of employing staff with disabilities from 2014 until 2023 and satisfied the 4.5% target in 2024. The Disability Census Form provided to all new entrants in my Department is voluntary and a self-declaration.

Year Percentage of Disclosed Disabilities
2024 7.47%
2023 5.68%
2022 5.75%
2021 4.83%
2020 4.38%
2019 5.14%
2018 4.10%
2017 4.10%
2016 3%
2015 4.90%
2014 3.42%
