I propose to take Questions Nos. 490, 491 and 494 together.

As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for overall policy and exchequer funding in relation to the National Roads Programme. Under the Roads Acts 1993-2015 and in line with the National Development Plan (NDP), the operation and management of individual national roads is a matter for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), in conjunction with the local authorities concerned. This is also subject to the Infrastructure Guidelines and the necessary statutory approvals. In this context, TII is best placed to advise you regarding the N70 road through Cahirsiveen.

Noting the above position, I have referred your question to TII for a direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 working days.

With regard to the footpaths in Cahirsiveen, it should be pointed out that this is a matter for the relevant local authority in the first instance, and as such, this would be a matter for Kerry County Council.

To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport his plans to extend the Adare Bypass to connect with the Killarney to Farranfore bypass and avoid knock-on traffic gridlock in Newcastle West, Abbeyfeale, Castleisland and Farranfore, which is a gateway to County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 492 and 493 together.

As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for overall policy and exchequer funding in relation to the National Roads Programme. Under the Roads Acts 1993-2015 and in line with the National Development Plan (NDP), the planning, design and construction of individual national roads is a matter for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), in conjunction with the local authorities concerned. This is also subject to the Infrastructure Guidelines and the necessary statutory approvals. In this context, TII is best placed to advise you.

It is important to point out that bypasses of Abbeyfeale and Newcastle West are included in the current NDP, with each receiving an allocation of €750,000 for further development in 2025.

Noting the above position, I have referred your question to TII for a direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 working days.
