To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government if he is concerned at the declining number of habitable thatched houses in the State; if he accepts that the cost of thatching together with the difficulty in securing affordable insurance presents particular difficulties for residents in these classic homes; if he further accepts that the level of grant aid available for rethatching is inadequate; his views on whether the State will need to invest substantially if these characteristic dwellings are to be preserved; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
