14. To ask the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade if he will engage with the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Tourism Ireland officials, US Embassy officials and other stakeholders (details supplied) to discuss the possible establishment and to assess the feasibility of creating a US president's trail in Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Officials in my Department are open to engaging with stakeholders to discuss ideas that deepen our ties with the United States.

As you know, Ireland's story, north and south, is inextricably linked with the story of emigration, and in particular to the United States where more than 30 million Americans across all 50 States now claim Irish ancestry. It is remarkable that 23 of the 45 American Presidents in almost 250 years had Irish heritage. This is one of many strands to our bilateral history and relationship with the United States.

I, and my Department, are always open to discussing ways to recognise our remarkable diaspora, celebrate our unique culture and create a platform through which we can promote tourism, economic links or develop our strong political and economic ties.
