4. To ask the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade to provide an update as to whether the Government has contributed, or intends to contribute, to the work of the Montreal Irish Monument Foundation’s plan to create a memorial green space; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17842/25]

In line with our current diaspora strategy, the Government is committed to strengthening the ties between Ireland and our communities overseas.
In 2023, the Montreal Irish Monument Park Foundation received a grant of $200,000CAD (€138,750) under the Government's Emigrant Support Programme to support the creation of a new commemorative space in Montreal in recognition of the Irish immigrants who travelled there during the Famine and also the many unnamed Irish citizens who are buried under the Black Rock where the commemorative park is to be located.
I understand the Montreal Irish Monument Foundation have submitted a further application for support in this year's Emigrant Support Programme grant round. The application will be assessed in due course.
