The Department of Transport (DoT) is responsible for the investment in the Irish Coast Guard (IRCG) building programme aimed at ensuring that Coast Guard facilities along the coast are fit for purpose.

The programme is fully funded by the Department as the Approving Authority, with project delivery managed by the Office of Public Works (OPW) as the Contracting Authority, from planning and design to construction and ongoing maintenance.

The following table itemises the breakdown of costs that have been discharged on behalf of the DoT to date.

Category Costs (excl. VAT)
Investigative surveys €29,780.50
Professional fees €265,843.28
Statutory and planning related costs €6,617.37

The remaining Total Project Budget estimate at this stage (pre-tender) is approximately €6m. The total project budget estimate includes estimated construction costs, contingency, construction stage design team fees, percentage for art and VAT.
