I am informed by Revenue that traders are not required to separately identify the VAT from specific goods and services on their periodic VAT returns. Therefore, it is not possible to provide the VAT collected on all energy related products and services using taxpayer information alone. However, using Revenue data and third-party data sources, a tentative estimate of VAT collected on electricity, natural gas, kerosene, home heating oil and solid fuels is provided in the table below.

Year Estimated Vat Collected

(€m)
2015 531
2016 514
2017 514
2018 573
2019 526
2020 573
2021 689
*2022 860
*2023 865
2024 591
2025 115
