The Future Ireland Fund and the Infrastructure, Climate and Nature Fund are currently invested by the NTMA under interim Investment Strategies, both of which are published on the NTMA website (www.ntma.ie).

The interim investment strategies reflect a low risk appetite, permitting only highly-rated liquid securities that have a low degree of inherent risk. The funds’ assets are held for safekeeping by the NTMA’s custodian.

The NTMA is currently developing long-term investment strategies for each of the Future Ireland Fund and the Infrastructure, Climate and Nature Fund, which will be subject to consultation with the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Services, Reform and Digitalisation, as required under Sections 7(3) and 16(3) of the Future Ireland Fund and Infrastructure, Climate and Nature Fund Act 2024.

The strategies are awaiting review and implementation in 2025. These strategies will be designed to meet each fund’s respective legislative objectives, and therefore shall be invested on a commercial basis, so as to seek to secure the optimal total financial return, having regard to the level of the risk to the assets and the likely timing of payments from the funds.
