The technical requirements for e-scooters, set out in the Road Traffic (Electric Scooters) Regulations 2024 (SI 199 of 2024), www.irishstatutebook.ie/eli/2024/si/199/made/en/print were determined in consultation with engineering experts in the Road Safety Authority (RSA). The Department is open to engagement on the regulations and to update them, if required and appropriate.
The issues raised in the correspondence have been shared with the RSA, for direct reply. I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a response with the information requested has not been received within ten days.
