The Government is fully committed to supporting a significant expansion and modernisation of the EV charging network over the coming years. Having an effective and reliable charging network is an essential part of enabling drivers to make the switch to electric vehicles.

In November 2024, the Zero Emission Heavy Duty Vehicles scheme was expanded to include purchase grants for recharging infrastructure – the ZEHDV-I scheme.

This expansion means successful applicants will be able to install their own depot charging points nationwide, and also facilitates public charging provision for HDVs.

The HDV recharging infrastructure support element of the ZEHDV grant scheme is open for applications from businesses in all locations in Ireland via the Transport Infrastructure Ireland website.
