The Passport Service has issued over 290,000 passports to date this year. The Passport Service is currently experiencing a high level of demand for passports, as citizens prepare for upcoming summer travel. Thanks to my Department’s operational and staffing plans, the Passport Service is successfully responding to the current level of demand.

With regard to the Deputy's request for the number of adult and children's passports issued in Q1 during 2024 and 2025, the figures are presented in tabular form as requested:

Type of Passports Issued Q1 2024 Q1 2025
Adult 211,333 214,683
Children 89,114 63,552
Total Passports Issued 300,447 278,235
I would ask the Deputy to encourage his constituents to apply for their passports through Passport Online, as the quickest, easiest and most cost effective way to apply for a passport. The Passport Online service allows citizens to apply online for their passport 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Passport Online is available to 99.9% of all applicants globally. As a matter of best practice, applicants should check the validity of their passport before booking travel.
