1083. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if he has been in communication with the Department for Social Protection as part of the interdepartmental working group tasked with assessing the impact of a new, non-binary, category of gender on existing legislation; when he is planning the next meeting with the representatives from the Department for Social Protection to investigate legislative implications of non-binary gender recognition; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Gender Recognition Act comes under the remit of my colleague, the Minister for Social Protection.
I understand that the Department of Social Protection will be in touch in due course, as to details and timeline for the next stage of the process that they would take forward on this matter, and with regard to the follow up to the publication of the review of the Gender Recognition Act, related work on an impact assessment of providing for a non-binary gender, and any inter-Departmental engagement or working group that may be required on this matter.
