1080. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if he will outline those adult education courses which were either postponed or cancelled in the 2024-2025 academic year; those which have since recommenced; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17512/25]

I am sure that the Deputy will appreciate that, as Minister, I have no role in the operational day-to-day running of ETBs, as the scheduling and programming of courses is a matter for each individual ETB, subject to their available budget and local needs.
My Department has significantly increased its investment in Further Education and Training in the last number of years, from circa €909 million in 2020 to €1.152 billion in 2025, excluding capital expenditure. In 2024, an investment of €1.055 billion supported one in every ten adults to participate in FET courses ranging from apprenticeship to Youthreach.
As the state agency responsible for Further Education and Training, SOLAS allocates this funding to the 16 ETBs and other agencies. This funding is allocated based on the various needs and priorities across the country. The allocation aims to support the delivery of apprenticeship, further education and training, development of skills, and workforce enhancement.
Adult education is a key area of focus for my Department and SOLAS. It provides lifelong learning and skills development for adults who wish to upskill, reskill, or pursue further qualifications, helping them enhance their employability and personal development. Adult education courses are run on a calendar year, rather than an academic year.
