The Department of Health and Health Service Executive (HSE) do not provide direct funding to voluntary first responders. The HSE National Ambulance Service (NAS) through their Community Engagement Team, provide Community First Responder (CFR) Schemes with advice and guidance on establishing their schemes and training for their CFR volunteers to achieve their Prehospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) Cardiac First Responder – Community (CFR-C) certification.

I have asked the HSE to respond to the Deputy with any other pertinent information it may have in this matter.
