The Department was notified on 09th May 2024 by the HSE that an issue had been raised under protected disclosure within CHI concerning differing practices across different sites. The HSE also advised that a clinical audit by an appropriate expert was being planned to ascertain the validity of the concern and the scale of the issue if a basis for concern was identified.
The then Minister was informed on 15th May 2024. I was briefed by my officials on February 24th 2025.
I have not received a final report of the independent clinical audit on Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip surgery at Children's Health Ireland and National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh.
