I propose to take Questions Nos. 826 and 839 together.
Government believes that all relevant parties have a collective responsibility to respond to Ireland's legacy in relation to Mother and Baby institutions. Discussions with regard to seeking a contribution from the religious congregations towards the cost of the Mother and Baby Institutions Payment Scheme were led by the independent negotiator, Ms. Sheila Nunan, and were informed by financial expertise provided by consultants, EY.
These discussions have concluded and l received the negotiator's report last week. I reviewed it promptly, briefed Government on its findings and recommendations today Tuesday 8th April before then publishing the report.
The Department maintains a mailing list of more than 1,000 survivors, advocates and interested parties, and regularly issues updates through this mailing list on the Government's Action Plan for Survivors of Mother and Baby and County Homes Institutions. I had ensured that this group had been kept informed of developments regarding the report and they received a digital copy before I published it to the Department's website. We also have a list of survivors who seek hard copies of materials and this group will receive the report by post.
Any interested parties who wish to be added to these lists can do so by sending an email to motherandbabyhomes@equality.gov.ie or calling our Action Plan information line on 01 6473200.
