712. To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality the number of requests submitted by the Garda divisional officer within Dublin north division requesting approval for extra Garda vehicles be deployed to the Dublin north division in 2024 and to-date in 2025; and the number of those requests that have been approved in each of the years in question, in tabular form. I am committed to prioritising investment across the justice system, including in An Garda Síochána. Both I and the Government are committed to providing An Garda Síochána with the resources it needs to fight crime, and a strengthened, well-resourced Garda organisation is central to this policy.

Over €2.48 billion has been provided in Budget 2025, a 27% increase since 2020. This funding is allowing for sustained investment in recruitment, equipment, technology and vehicles.

The responsibility for the efficient deployment of all official Garda vehicles in each Division is assigned to the Divisional Officer, who may allocate vehicles between stations as required by operational circumstances.

The Garda authorities have advised me that the data requested by the Deputy is not collated in a manner that would allow for a numerical response to the question. The allocation process is dynamic and involves ongoing communication with the office of the Assistant Commissioner. The purchase and allocation of vehicles by An Garda Síochána is made on the basis of identified operational demands, the availability of resources and is reviewed on a continual basis.

I am advised by the Garda authorities that the below table outlines the number of cars and vans allocated to the DMR North Division in 2024 and 2025 up to 7 April 2025.
