Both I and the Government are committed to providing An Garda Síochána with the resources needed to keep people safe.
This is reflected in the unprecedented allocation of over €2.48 billion in Budget 2025. This is allowing for sustained investment in recruitment, equipment, technology, and vehicles.
I am informed by the Garda authorities that from 2023 to 31 March 2025, a total of 37 motorbikes were allocated to the fleet, and a total of 15 were removed.
The table below shows the motorbikes allocated to and removed from the Roads Policing fleet in 2023, 2024 and 2025 as of 31 March.
- | Motorbikes Allocated | Motorbikes Removed |
---|---|---|
2023 | 12 | 5 |
2024 | 23 | 10 |
As of 31 March 2025 | 2 | 0 |
The purchase and allocation of vehicles is made on the basis of identified operational demands, the availability of resources and is reviewed on a continual basis.
