688. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection if a working group tasked with assessing the impact of a new, non-binary, category of gender on existing legislation has been established (details supplied); if not, when is he planning for this interdepartmental group to start the assessment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The setting up an interdepartmental working group to facilitate an impact assessment on providing legal recognition for those who identify as non-binary is included in the National LGBTIQ+ Inclusion Strategy II.
My Department will be participating in the roll out of this strategy, and work on progressing this element has commenced internally.
Further work is required to be carried out within my Department before a timeframe around the establishment of the group can be set out.
I trust this clarifies matters for the Deputy.
