The Carer's Support Grant (CSG) is an annual payment for carers who look after a person in need of full-time care and attention.
My Department received an application for CSG from the person concerned on 11March 2025.
The CSG was previously paid to the person concerned for the same care recipient while Domiciliary Care Allowance was in payment.
I can confirm that the person concerned has been awarded a CSG for the year 2025. Payment of €2,000 for the year 2025 will be paid to the person's nominated credit union account on 5 June 2025.
They have also been awarded the once off cost of living payment in the amount of €400 which was announced as part of Budget 2025. The Cost-of-Living Payment of €400 will be paid to the persons nominated credit union account on 10 April 2025.
Notification of this decision issued to the person concerned on 3 April 2025.
I hope this clarifies the position for the Deputy.

Carer's allowance (CA) is a means-tested social assistance payment made to a person who is habitually resident in the State and who is providing full-time care and attention to a child or an adult who has such a disability that, as a result, they require that level of care.
I can confirm that CA has been in payment to the person concerned since 18 October 2018.
Once claims are in payment, the Department periodically reviews them to ensure that there is continued entitlement.
A means review of the claim of the person concerned commenced on 2 December 2024.
Means are any income belonging to the carer and their spouse / civil partner / cohabitant, property (except their own home) or an asset that could bring in money or provide them with an income, for example occupational pensions, or pensions or benefits from another country.
It is a condition for receipt of CA that every claimant shall furnish such certificates, documents, information and evidence as may be required for the purposes of deciding the claim and attends at such office or place as an officer may direct.
The outcome of the review was notified to the person concerned on 2 April 2025. The deciding officer decided that the rate of payment for the person concerned remains unchanged.
I hope this clarifies the position for the Deputy.
