To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if she has been in communication with the Department for Social Protection as part of the interdepartmental working group tasked with assessing the impact of a new, non-binary, category of gender on existing legislation; when she is planning the next meeting with the representatives from the Department for Social Protection to investigate legislative implications of non-binary gender recognition; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Gender Recognition Act 2015 comes under the remit of my colleague, the Minister for Social Protection. My department will participate fully in any follow up work arising from the recommendations of the review of the Act, including the recommendation relating to non-binary gender recognition.
