With regards to the permanent school building for Belmayne Educate Together Secondary School;

Phase 1 was completed and handed over to the school in 2024 having been certified and signed off by the contractor and their professional team as being compliant with the planning legislation, building regulations, fire safety certificate and disability access certificate.

Construction of the remaining phase/section of the building is ongoing, with no current material alterations to the building.

My Department is currently liaising directly with the patron of Belmayne Educate Together Secondary School relating to the matters associated with the location of the new special school on the site at Belmayne. There is ongoing engagement with stakeholders with a view to finalising the practical arrangements over the coming short period.

Once all proposals relating to the overall accommodation including the special school, have been finalised and formally agreed upon by all relevant stakeholders, all statutory requirements, including those pertaining to fire safety certification, will be duly complied with.
