The Health Service Executive (HSE) or the Department does not have oversight of stock in private pharmacies. Private pharmacies operate independently and manage their own inventory of medicines, including the handling of expired or unused medications. Therefore, the State cannot collect or maintain data on the value of such expired drugs in private pharmacies.
