I can advise the Deputy that Travel Documents are processed by the Travel Documents Unit of Immigration Services Delivery of my Department, and printed in the Passport Office.
The Travel Documents Unit received the application from the person referred to by the Deputy on 24 November 2024.
The Unit has recently experienced a very high volume of applications and I want to assure anyone who has submitted an application, that the Travel Documents Unit is doing everything possible to progress applications as quickly as possible.
The Unit are currently processing applications received in November 2024. The processing time of applications is currently 26 weeks and processing times are updated on my Departments Immigration Service website: www.irishimmigration.ie/coming-to-join-family-in-ireland/applying-for-a-travel-document/
As an Oireachtas member, you can also request the status of individual immigration cases by e-mail, using the Oireachtas Mail facility at: IMoireachtasmail@justice.ie, which has been specifically established for this purpose. This service enables up to date information on such cases to be obtained without the need to seek information by way of the Parliamentary Question process.
