490. To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government whether Uisce Éireann has the capacity to deliver water and wastewater infrastructure for 50,000 new homes to be delivered each year; what additional resources would be required to achieve that capacity if not currently available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Programme for Government commits to investing additional capital in Uisce Éireann to support reaching our new housing targets. We will prioritise water and waste water infrastructure to deliver the capacity to facilitate housing development in our towns and villages.

This additional funding will be considered as part of the National Development Plan review which is due to be completed in the middle of the year.

Uisce Éireann has statutory responsibility for all aspects of water services planning, delivery and operation at national, regional and local levels, and the scope, prioritisation and progression of individual projects is a matter for Uisce Éireann.

Uisce Éireann has established a dedicated team to deal with representations and queries from public representatives. The team can be contacted via email to oireachtasmembers@water.ie or by telephone on a dedicated number, 0818 578 578.
