The Office of Public Works (OPW) is responsible for the maintenance of Arterial Drainage Schemes completed under the Arterial Drainage Acts 1945 and 1995, as amended. The location referenced forms a part of the Feale Arterial Drainage Scheme. Officials from the OPW South-Western Drainage Maintenance section have recently examined the sluice gates in question and have determined that the hangers on the sluice gates were damaged. These have since been repaired and the gates are now working correctly. These gates will continue to be monitored as part of standard OPW procedures.
