To ask the Minister for Health the reason the deaths of babies with congenital anomalies, such as down syndrome or spina bifida, are not included in Maternity Patient Safety Statement reports; how the exclusion of these deaths contribute to transparency and patient safety monitoring; the measures in place to ensure that the full extent of perinatal mortality, including cases involving congenital anomalies, is accurately recorded and used to inform maternity care improvements; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
