To ask the Minister for Finance further to Parliamentary Question No. 279 of 5 February 2025, if any share of the 19.4 billion euro grouped under the short-term paper is made up of each of the funds Infrastructure, climate and nature fund, future Ireland fund and the social insurance fund; for details of the remainder of the debt categorised under the short-term paper; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Exchequer short-term paper outstanding at year-end 2024 amounted to €19.4bn and consisted of Exchequer Notes and Central Treasury Notes.
Neither the Future Ireland Fund nor the Infrastructure, Climate and Nature Fund had investments in Exchequer short-term paper at year-end 2024.
The Social Insurance Fund was the largest single holder of short-term paper at end 2024 – with €8.8bn in holdings. The remaining €10.6bn comprises holdings by State entities and other smaller State funds.
