To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to instruct his Department to make the driving licence renewal process easier and more transparent due to the trouble certain Irish citizens are having with renewing their driving licences after being abroad for a number of years, even when providing required documentation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The issuing and renewal of driving licences is a matter for the Road Safety Authority and I have referred the question to the Authority for direct reply. I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a response is not received within 10 days
