1957. To ask the Minister for Rural and Community Development when the national dog breeding establishment register for 2025 will be published; if it will contain the maximum number of breeding females that a breeder is licensed for; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11585/25]

I can confirm a Dog Breeding Establishment National Register containing information for 2024 is available on my Department’s dog control page on gov.ie. My officials are in the process of requesting updates for the database from all local authorities for 2025, and once all returns are received, collated and analysed they will be published on gov.ie.

The Dog Breeding Establishments Act 2010 (the Act) and related Guidelines, set out certain requirements that Dog Breeding Establishments must follow. Dog Breeding Establishments must be registered with their local authority, and each local authority should maintain and publish the list of Dog Breeding Establishments in their administrative area.

The definition of a Dog Breeding Establishment is outlined within the Act. As the definition relates to the number of breeding bitches, some premises that do not breed pups specifically for sale are also captured by the definition. These include, for example, Hunt Clubs, Animal Welfare Charities and Commercial Boarding Kennels. The maximum number of breeding females that a breeder is licensed for is not captured on the national register.
