1949. To ask the Minister for Rural and Community Development if all persons that are recruited to work in his Department and all the related agencies of his Department are fully vetted before they are employed by his Department and or said agencies. [11090/25]

My Department mainly recruits staff through the Public Appointments Service who carry out Garda vetting on all individuals who join the Civil Service. Where necessary, my Department also carries out checks, which can include checks regarding identification, qualifications and the right to work in Ireland. As such, all those recruited to work in my Department are fully vetted.

There are four agencies under the remit of my Department; the Charities Regulator, the Western Development Commission, Water Safety Ireland and Pobal. They are all independent legal entities responsible for managing their own operations, including issues around recruitment of new staff.
