I propose to take Questions Nos. 257 to 259, inclusive, together.

There are currently one hundred and fifty-three (153) residential units under control of the Department of Defence. Seventy-one (71) of these are currently occupied and a further three (3) are vacant and requiring refurbishment. Seventy-nine (79) of the properties are currently uninhabitable.

Status Location Count
Habitable Westmeath 1
Habitable Cork 2
Habitable Dublin 23
Habitable Galway 1
Habitable Kildare 41
Habitable Kilkenny 1
Habitable Limerick 1
Habitable Meath 1
Uninhabitable Cork 11
Uninhabitable Dublin 6
Uninhabitable Kildare 62
Vacant Dublin 2
Vacant Kildare 1
Total 153

The Deputy may also be aware that the Defence Forces commissioned Consultants to assess the condition of the Defence Forces vacant housing stock and its suitability for conversion/refurbishment to provide for additional single living-in accommodation for Defence Force personnel. A report has recently been submitted to my Department for its assessment. Once my officials and the Defence Forces have considered the contents, they will submit recommendations to me on the remediation programme to be undertaken.
